Suggestions for Learning from Home | K-9 Class cancellations are unusual and challenging events. During this short period before spring break, we encourage families to maintain a balanced and consistent routine for children; including regular sleeping and eating times, breaks for activity and outdoor time, and healthy boundaries on screen time. After spring break, additional learning resources and activities will be shared to support students in learning. Children are naturally curious learners and there are opportunities at home to engage their learning. We have created a webpage that offers a variety of educational ideas to support literacy, numeracy and wellness at home for this week. The resources are meant as suggestions only. You may choose to use the links and activities as needed over the next few days as more long-term educational programming is considered. Hello parents and students of Room 10, I know we are all experiencing a lot of unforeseen changes right now, and I hope that you are all safe and healthy at home. There are still a lot of unknowns regarding how we move forward for the rest of the school year, however, I assure you that when information is available, parents will be notified as soon as possible. In the mean time, I wanted to share some resources that parents can use at home while we are away from school. Math Prodigy - Prodigy is a math-based game that students can play to continue working on math concepts. Every student already has an account on Prodigy and can access the site at prodigygame.com. If you've forgotten your login information, please email Mr. Trinh. Khan Academy - All students have an account on Khan Academy. This is a great resource to review new and past math concepts with interactive lessons and explanations. Just head to khanacademy.com and login using your account. Login information for each student can be found in the document below.
BrainPOP - BrainPOP is offering parents unlimited access to their resources while schools are closed for COVID-19. Just create an account and students can access lessons and games on topics across all of our core subjects. Head to brainpop.com and create an account using the "Get Free Access" button. Reading Epic! - Epic! provides a large library of books that students can read from. Sign up comes with a 30-day free trial and parents can keep track of their student's reading Tumblebooks and Calgary Public Library - Many titles, including our class read-aloud book, Pluto, are available as digital titles on Tumblebooks via the Calgary Public Library. Sign in using your library card number and you can access many books online, even while the library is closed. Writing A little of practice goes a long way! Download there file below to access a bunch of journal writing topics. Students can pick one topic per day to write about, and then review their writing with a parent or sibling.
